Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, also known as the Tirupati Balaji Temple, is a Hindu temple situated in the hill town of Tirumala at Tirupati in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. One of the most revered and wealthy temples in the world, Tirupati Balaji Temple, also called Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, stands majestically atop the Seven Hills of Tirumala and is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Vishnu. The current building was greatly expanded during the Vijayanagara Empire's reign and is thought to have been constructed more than a millennium ago.
