Shri Jagannath Temple located in Puri, Odisha, is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites and one of the most sacred Vaishnav temples in India. Dedicated to Lord Jagannath (a form of Krishna), along with Balabhadra and Subhadra, it’s famed not only for its religious significance but also for its mysteries, ancient rituals, and massive chariot festival Rath Yatra.

The temple is believed to have been constructed in the 12th century by King Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva of the Eastern Ganga dynasty.

✔️ Non-Hindus are not allowed inside the temple premises but can view it from the nearby rooftop library (Raghunandan Library)

🌑 Anavasara (Rest Period of Deities)
Lord Jagannath is believed to fall ill after the bath and rests in solitude. During this time, darshan is not available. Devotees visit Alarnath Temple in Brahmagiri instead.
