Bijli Mahadev Temple is locate at an altitude of around 2,500 meters in the Kullu Valley. This Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of Himachal's most spiritually charged and scenic temples. The name "Bijli" (lightning) comes from the temple’s legendary phenomenon every few years, lightning strikes the Shiva Lingam, shattering it, only to be restored using butter by the temple priests. This is believed to symbolize the divine acceptance of prayers and protection of the valley.
The temple offers panoramic views of the Kullu and Parvati valleys and requires a short trek through pine forests and rocky paths, making it both a spiritual and adventure-filled journey.
Trek to Bijli Mahadev
* Park your car at the nearby parking facility, then you can book a 4x4 vehicle or continue by walking to the trailhead.
*T he 3 km uphill trek from Chansari village is moderately challenging but scenic.
* The trail passes through pine forests, flower-filled meadows, and offers jaw-dropping views of the Beas and Parvati valleys.
* On a clear day, you can see snow-capped peaks, rivers, and villages spread across the valley below.
